We are commencing major building works at Woodend Primary School next week. We anticipate that the builders’ compound and building site will be fenced on Monday.

To ensure the safety of all students and staff during this period, there will be significant changes to our normal routines and processes before school, during transitions, break times, and at the end of the day.

Important Information for families:

Bells:

There will be no change to the school day. However, there will be changes to bell times to slow the movement of large groups through the school.

  • Morning bell: 8.52am, ready for an 8.55am start
  • Recess: No bell to start, and a 10.57am bell, ready for lesson time at 11.00am
  • Lunch: No bell to start, and a 1.22pm bell, ready for lesson time at 1.25pm
  • End of day: 3.05pm, with no bell

Access:

  • Access from the oval will be limited to the gate between rooms 8 and 9, adjacent to the water play area. There will be no access via the basketball court.
  • The only path between the street and the rest of the school will be alongside the garden, between the chicken coop and the building works.

Kiss and Go Arrangements:

  • The Kiss and Go gate will be moved to the top of the Kiss and Go space.
  • Students will be dismissed from this gate as they see their family arrive at the top of the Kiss and Go zone.

Young Street Entrance:

  • The Young Street Garden will reopen before school, with a staff member supervising.
  • The atrium opens at 8.40am.
  • There will be no access to rooms 17–23 before 8.40am. Please wait outside until this time.
  • We request that families do not cut through the atrium to other areas of the school but use the footpath to access the main gate.

Before School Supervision:

  • Classrooms and internal walkways will be closed until 8.40am.
  • Both playgrounds, the COLA, Young St garden the front half of the oval will be open and supervised from 8.30am.

These changes are designed to keep everyone safe and to ensure smooth operations during the building works. Please discuss these new routines with your child and reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and understanding.
