BASKETBALL AT WOODEND
School basketball is played year-round with a break during the school holidays. It is a great way to make new friends, keep fit, and learn some new skills. Even if you have never played before, come and give it a try. Our coaches can teach you the rules of the game, and you can improve your skills during training.
WHEN ARE WHERE
The games are played at the Morphett Vale Basketball Stadium, an undercover venue.
Year 6 games are on Monday nights.
Years 2/3 games are on Tuesday nights.
Year 4/5 games are on Wednesday nights.
The times for these matches are 3.45 pm, 4.30 pm or 5.15 pm.
Games will be 2 x 15-minute halves.
On game days, the stadium will allow more timeouts throughout the game if it is over 32˚˚ C. Games will be cancelled at 35˚ C.
AGE RANGE
Boys and Girls can join basketball in Years 2 to 6, with teams Y2/3, Y4/5 and Y6.
UNIFORM
The school will supply a Woodend sports shirt as part of the basketball uniform. This will be returned and washed in a named bag at the end of the season.
Students must wear navy blue shorts and appropriate footwear.
COACHES AND TRAINING
Each team requires a Coach or Coaches/Team Manager (Volunteer/s).
The coordinator and coaches will set down training days and times at the beginning of the season. If your child cannot attend training, please advise the coach.
Training is held at the school on the basketball court in front of Room 1 and will go for approx. 45-60 minutes. Training will be cancelled if the weather is forecast at 32˚ C in the morning. You will be required to wear a hat and drink bottle for training.
