WHEN AND WHERE

Games are played on Tuesdays after school at SUNA, Wilfred Taylor Reserve, Morphett Vale. The school netball season starts in week 2 for both terms 2 and 3 and runs to the end of each school term. There are NO games played during school holidays.

Years 2, 3, 4 play at 3.45pm Years 5, 6 play at 4.45pm

WHAT YEAR LEVEL

Both Girls and Boys can join a team and start playing netball from Year 2 to Year 6. Netball teams are defined by the year levels, which sometimes can change, dependent on the number of registration forms that been have received. Generally, the rule of thumb for teams is:

  • Year 2 E Grade Net, Set, Go (Modified Netball Rules)
  • Year 3 E Grade Net, Set, Go (Modified Netball Rules)
  • Year 4 D Grade Netball Rules (Official Netball Rules)
  • Year 5 C Grade Netball Rules (Official Netball Rules)
  • Year 6 B Grade Netball Rules (Official Netball Rules)
  • Please note that there are NO FINALS in the School Competition as the purpose is to promote team participation, sportsmanship and to have fun.

UNIFORM AND JEWELERY

The school supplies a netball shirt as part of the netball uniform and is to be returned washed, in a named bag at the end of the season. Students also need to wear a navy blue sports skirt, skorts, shorts or track pants and appropriate footwear to complete the uniform for games. All jewellery is to be removed before each game for safety reasons to the player. Studs are not permitted and cannot be taped over.

COACHES AND TRAINING

Each team requires either a Coach or Coach/Assistant Coach (Volunteer/s).
The Co-ordinator and Coaches will set down training days and times at the beginning of the season. If your child cannot attend training for any reason, please advise the Coach. Training is held here at school on the netball court, usually straight after school.

UMPIRES

The school does not supply umpires for the game. We like to encourage our year 6 students for this. They are paid a small fee per game by SUNA, which will be received at the end of each term.

WEATHER AND FORFEITS:
SUNA will advise the School or Co-ordinator if games are cancelled due to bad weather or if an opposing School has forfeited the upcoming game.

CLINICS

Netball SA will provide us with a free Netball Umpiring Clinic for some year levels interested at School. Details of the clinic will be sent out closer to the date.

PRESENTATIONS

Trophy presentations will be held in week 2 of term 4 in the OSHC Hall to celebrate the end of the netball season. Details of the event will be sent out closer to the date.
