Events and celebrations are an important part of life at Woodend, with many special occasions celebrated and commemorated throughout the year. We encourage families to check our calendar and News Blog regularly for details about these events.
Next week we observe Disability Inclusion Week, a special time to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion throughout our school.
Assemblies
Throughout the year, each class will have the opportunity to present an assembly with another class. Unless otherwise advertised, assemblies are held on Wednesdays at 10:00am in the gym. Family seating is available at the back of the gym, while seats alongside classes are reserved for teachers and SSOs to ensure student supervision. Links to recorded assemblies are available on the Events Page.

Camps and Excursions
Throughout the year, students will participate in a range of excursions and incursions that connect with and enhance their classroom learning. The excursion levy covers the cost of most of these valuable experiences. Your child’s teacher will provide details in advance of each class incursion and excursion.
This year, many of our Year 6 students will attend the popular Canberra study tour. In addition, a group of our Year 5 and 6 students will have the exciting opportunity to travel to our sister school, Myojo Gakuen, in Tokyo during Term 3.
We recognise that camps offer valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom; however, we wish to clarify that school camps are considered additional opportunities and are not part of the core curriculum. As such, not every class will participate in a camp each year. We understand that this can sometimes be disappointing for children, especially when they notice other classes going on camp. Please know that decisions around camps are made thoughtfully, taking a range of factors into consideration.
