“Kodomo No Hi” is a celebration in Japan for Children’s Day, which is held on May 5th every year. One aspect of the day are the koi nobori, which are flying carp, that are hung outside homes of families with children. The idea is, that Japanese children grow up to be strong like the carp and live a happy life. Students enjoyed making their own mini versions of the koi nobori in our Japanese classes this week. You may have also seen some beautiful silk koi nobori flying in the trees around our school this week.
What a beautiful celebration.
