Welcome to the 2025 School Year at Woodend Primary School!

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

What a fantastic start we’ve had to the school year! On behalf of all staff, I extend a warm welcome to new and returning families.

Our newest Receptions have settled beautifully into their four classes, making a wonderful first impression on both staff and peers. It was heartwarming to see so many parents attend the Cheers and Tears gathering after dropping off their children for their very first day of school—such a special milestone! Thankyou to the parent volunteers who were there to make coffee and tea for parents.

Play periods have started on a positive note, with students demonstrating kindness and care towards one another. This speaks volumes about the respectful and inclusive culture at Woodend.

SSO support for designated students is already underway, providing valuable assistance and ensuring every child has the support they need to thrive. Classrooms across all year levels have quickly settled into productive routines, with students already immersed in learning tasks.

We are also delighted to welcome several new students to our community. It’s been heartening to see classmates step up and ensure these students feel right at home.

Our Welcome Back Assembly is scheduled for this Wednesday. It will be a short but meaningful gathering for staff and students to connect as we embark on this exciting year together.

Additionally, Making Connections sessions have commenced in earnest, with Reception teachers meeting with parents over the coming days. These sessions are an invaluable opportunity to build strong home-school partnerships from the outset.
