Dear families,

As we begin the first week of Term 4, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your continued support and involvement in our school community. This term is always filled with excitement and energy as we approach the end of the school year. Our students will participate in fun activities that foster both learning and creativity.

As an update to the up-coming work to repair the classrooms damaged by termites, two single transportable classrooms have been sourced and will be brought on to site some time in the next few weeks.

They will be located at the end of the staff carpark next to the gym, (same location as the INTRACT Builders Compound was previously). This will impact on staff parking for the duration of the remediation work that has to take place which in turn will mean additional staff cars on surrounding streets.

I thank you in advance for your patience when this happens.

In November there will be an official Opening of New Buildings that have been completed. We are expecting Minister Blair Boyer to officiate at the opening.

We begin the term with our Annual STEAM Week program, with an EXPO to be held on Thursday 17/10/2024. See the information sent previously.

Governing Council has its next meeting on Wednesday 23/10/24. This group of parents with staff representation, provide oversight of the directions of the school as well as employment of Canteen and OSHC staff.

Information will come out regarding the ArtBeat Performing Arts Showcase to be held on Thursday 24/10/24. This event will showcase the talent of our students.

Several Excursions are happening this term. Teachers plan well ahead for these events and I wish to acknowledge their willingness to take students out of the school to ensure that they get a comprehensive education.

  • Rooms 1&2 to Adelaide Oval 30/10/24
  • Rooms 7,8,24 & 25 Adare Camp 12/11/24

Following their success in the competitions recently held at Reynella East College, we have a team participating in the State Hiragana Competition at EDC Hindmarsh to be held on 30th October. This is an example of the outstanding achievement of our Japanese teachers and their students.

Sports Day will be held on Friday 1st November. This is an event that parents, grandparents , staff and students look forward to as it is a time when we can come together as a community, and see the smiles on student’s faces as they enjoy the well organised events.

The Southern Metro Music Festival will be held on Thursday 7/11/24 and Friday 8/11/24. This allows students to participate in a local event following the Festival of Music performance. We have 31 students participating, with 10 performing as a Troupe.

A reminder of the Student Free Day on Friday 8th November. OSHC will operate on that day.

Our Annual Remembrance Day Assembly on 11/11/24 will begin at 10:30am, and will be held under the COLA. All of our school Community are invited to attend. If you are coming, please arrive prior to 10:30.

We also have a visit by Mike Lucas on 12th November. Mike Lucas is an English-born Australian author who has created works of fiction, poetry, and picture books. He will work with a number of the senior students.

Our Annual Colour Run Event is scheduled for Friday 22nd November. Hopefully it is a warm and calm day though children don’t seem to mind. Thanks to the Parent Network for organising this event.

Our Annual Community Concert and Fireworks Evening will be held on Monday 9th December, the last week of school. Our usual start is 6:30pm and everyone in the community is invited. Students will perform a range of items and the traditional staff vs parents items will be included. Bring something to eat and drink as well as a rug or chairs. Please note that it is an alcohol free evening.

The last week of term 4 is when we say farewell to our year 6 students at our Graduation Ceremony.

Graduation is a significant milestone as students prepare to graduate from primary school and transition to high school, gathering with family, friends, teachers and classmates to celebrate their achievements. This time is filled with mixed emotions—excitement for new opportunities and a touch of nostalgia for the familiar routines and friendships of their earlier years.

  • Year 6 Graduation – Thursday 12/12/24
  • Year 6 Farewell Ceremony Friday 13/12/24

Your child’s report will give a summation of the year’s progress and should hold no surprises as there has been a lot of work shared in Seesaw etc. If you do have questions about your child’s learning, please arrange to have a chat with your child’s class teacher.

As always, your partnership is invaluable, and together, we can help our children finish the year strong. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community!

Warm regards,

Steve Freeman
