On Friday 6 December, Woodend Volunteers were honoured with a lovely morning tea.
We recognize that our parent and carer volunteers are incredibly busy and not all could make it to the tea, so we want to be sure to extend a huge thank you to ALL of our wonderful volunteers.
Volunteers have a massive impact in our school, helping in a variety of ways and places:
classrooms
excursions
assemblies
kitchen
garden
school sport
choir
canteen
library
gift stalls
student banking
market days
movie night
whole school fundraiser
sports day
fireworks night
parent network
governing council
healthy eating committee
OSHC advisory committee
sports committee
grounds committee
finance committee
traffic & safety committee
Thank you to all parents and carers who help in these spaces and more! We appreciate you!
Each year we honour parents who are leaving the Woodend community and who have made a lasting contribution to our school over a number of years of volunteering.
This year the two parents we’d like to recognise are Sarah Thomas and Karen Charles.
Sarah Thomas has been a member of the Governing Council for 5 years, retiring as the treasurer and as the Chair of the Traffic & Safety Committee. Sarah, with her passion for science, has been a massive driving force in bringing STEAM Week to Woodend, and helping it grow from strength to strength each year.
Karen Charles has also been a member of the Governing Council as well as the Parent Network, where she helped with the Earn & Learn initiative. She retires from Sports Committee and her position of Spike Zone Volleyball co-ordinator.
A special thank you to these two parents, and indeed all retiring Woodend volunteers. You will be missed.
