What a wonderful way to begin term 4 with our annual STEMFest! Our learning and celebrations have been a fantastic opportunity for students, staff and families to come together to explore, create, problem-solve and grow.
This year’s theme, GROW, connected beautifully with the 2026 National Science Week theme, Seeds of Science, and encouraged our students to think deeply about the many ways we grow our knowledge, capabilities and learning dispositions through STEM.
Throughout STEMFest, students were immersed in a range of rich learning experiences that highlighted the importance of curiosity, creativity, collaboration, persistence and critical thinking. From classroom design challenges and hands-on investigations to opportunities to share ideas, test solutions and reflect on learning, STEMFest provided meaningful ways for students to engage with Science, Technologies, Engineering and Mathematics in authentic and exciting contexts.
A highlight of the week was seeing our students proudly share their learning through the STEMFest Expo. The Expo showcased class design-thinking projects from Term 3, family responses to our GROW Family Design Challenge, entries from the Library Seed Challenge, and a range of hands-on activities and challenges. It was wonderful to see the creativity, effort and imagination on display across our school community!
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the families who participated in the Family Design Challenge. The time, thought and teamwork that went into these projects was evident, and it was clear that students were proud to share what they had created with their families.
We are also very grateful to the family members and presenters who gave their time to visit classes and share their STEM-related careers, interests and expertise. These real-world connections are such an important part of STEMFest. By hearing from people in our own community, students were able to see the many different pathways STEM can lead to and better understand how classroom learning connects to the wider world. Your generosity, enthusiasm and willingness to inspire our students is deeply appreciated.
Our STEM learning is about so much more than completing a project. It is about helping students become thoughtful, capable learners who ask questions, explore possibilities, work collaboratively and respond creatively to challenges. As we continue to implement the new South Australian Curriculum, opportunities such as STEMFest help bring these capabilities to life in purposeful and engaging ways.
Let’s keep growing together.
