Mark Williams, from the Premier’s Reading Challenge visited Woodend today to congratulate 4 students who were finalists in the Premier’s Reading Challenge STEM Reading and Design Challenge 2018.
The STEM Reading and Design Challenge 2018 invited students of all ages to pick-up and read a science-related book. This competition was part of The Premier’s Reading Challenge, designed to get more kids into books and STEM.
Students were challenged to read one or more books from the Premier’s Reading Challenge book list (with a focus on Science, STEM, Science Fiction or Nature). After reading the book, students needed to complete a simple task, based on what they’d read.
Congratulations to Gracie, Briar and Imogen who won the Year 6-9 Design Challenge.
The task was to design a STEM poster to inspire interest in science-related fields, based upon a book you have read. Their poster stood out from the many entries from students in years 6-9 around the state. The girls have won a book voucher each and a family pass to the Adelaide Zoo for 2 adults and 3 children.
Congratulations also to Sophie, who won second prize in the R-2 Challenge.
The R-2 challenge was to draw a picture in response to a book you have read. Sophie has drawn 2 giraffes in Mr Archimedes bath.
