As mentioned in a previous post, we had our team the Woodend Hiragana Heroes, Emily G, Emily M, Kaneesha and Purav, place 1st in the Southern District Hiragana Reading Competition in August, last term.
By finishing first, we were invited to compete in the State Hiragana Reading Competition, which was held at Warradale Primary School.
During the first round of the competition our students had to read Japanese words made up of 2 characters, written in hiragana. Our team gave it their all, competing against some very strong competition. It was impressive to watch their skills.
During Round 2, which consisted of 3 character words, Emily G, Emily M, Kaneesha and Purav were outstanding in this round.
The competition was extremely close with our students doing an excellent job in a highly competitive situation. It was wonderful to see our students not only being fierce competitors but also honest and good sports.
Emily G, Emily M, Kaneesha and Purav all held their own during the whole competition and were excellent competitors and can hold their heads high and be very proud of their achievements.
Congratulations to our Hiragana Heroes for placing 4th in the State.
Well done everyone. たいへん よくできました。
