SAPSASA Boys’ Cricket Team Secures an Exciting Win!
Last Tuesday, our Year 5 and 6 Boys SAPSASA Cricket team faced Coromandel Valley Primary School in the first round of the statewide T20 knockout competition.
Woodend Primary School won the toss and elected to field first, with conditions proving challenging due to wet and windy weather. Lenny set the tone early with a key wicket, and the team continued to apply pressure throughout the innings. Wickets were shared across the team, with WPS bowling Coromandel Valley out for just 79 runs in 16 overs.
Despite a promising start, Coromandel Valley responded with strong fielding in the second innings, creating a tense finish. With only four overs remaining, WPS needed 17 runs to secure victory. Tazzie and our captain, Kieran, returned to the crease and delivered an outstanding finish. Between them, they smashed six boundaries, guiding the team to a fantastic win.
Final Score:
Coromandel Valley: 79 all out (16 overs)
Woodend Primary School: 101/7 (20 overs)
Coromandel Valley: 79 all out (16 overs)
Woodend Primary School: 101/7 (20 overs)
This was a fantastic team performance. Every player played their part, supported each other, and contributed to the win. When the pressure was at its highest, the boys stayed positive, backed one another, and rose to the challenge — a brilliant display of teamwork, resilience, and determination.
An outstanding effort — well done, boys!
WPS will now look ahead to hosting their next match on Tuesday, 31 March against St Martin de Porres Primary School, in what promises to be another tough contest.
Thank you to all the parents who assisted with transport, scoring, and supporting the team — your help is greatly appreciated.
