It is a tradition at Woodend that we welcome our youngest and farewell our oldest students with a handmade rose. This tradition links to our first roses being planted outside of our school in 1995. At Assembly last Thursday 1/8/24, we officially welcomed our newest members of Woodend Primary School … our Reception students from Rooms 22. They were also our first class of mid year Reception students.
We wish these new students who are just 4 and 5 years of age, every success in their future journey of learning at Woodend.
As a special welcome for the Receptions, they were each presented with a rose by our eldest members of Woodend, the Year 6 students. We hope that the Reception children continue to bloom and grow just like our beautiful roses in the Rose Garden did.
We also thank Ms Coster’s Year 5/6 class for making the roses.
Also at this Assembly, the students who participated in the Canberra Study Tour in July this year shared their experiences. We listened to and viewed the numerous activities in which they engaged and from the range of activities, there were many positive memories made. Each event covered rich learning opportunities such as civics and citizenship, history and heritage, science, the environment, art and culture. Additionally, all students were able to enjoy fun times and connect with one another.
