Over the past semester, we conducted a routine review of our reporting policy. This review included consultations with staff, parents, leadership, and the governing council.
Based on the recommendations from this review, we will implement the following changes in the upcoming reporting cycle:
Assessment Scale
Achievement in each learning area will be assessed using the A-E word equivalents provided by the Department for Education. Effort will be measured using the same scale in order to provide a clear overall assessment.
- Minimal
- Partial
- Satisfactory
- Good
- Excellent
Curriculum summaries provided by teachers show what is expected at each year level.
Foundation Year 1-2 Year 3-4 Year 5-6
Learning Comment
Instead of eight separate learning area comments, each report will include one personalised Learning Comment. This comment will reference literacy and numeracy development, as well as information about each child’s learning dispositions, capabilities and knowledge across learning areas. These comments will reflect the development of each child as a learner, highlighting specific areas of strength and areas for development.
Specialist teachers will help write these comments to ensure a balanced report of each child across learning areas.
General Capabilities
A wider range of general capabilities will be included in the report. The scale for these capabilities will be worded to make it clearer for families to interpret.
- Rarely
- Sometimes
- Mostly
- Always
Highlights & Activities
An additional section for semester highlights has been included, alongside the existing Activities and Learning Support information.
Report Format and Design
A fresh format and design will be adopted for the reports.
We extend our gratitude to the Parent Network, staff and Governing Council for providing valuable feedback throughout this process.
Please note that Semester 1 reports will be distributed to students on Friday of Week 10, with a digital copy sent to parents and guardians at 3pm on the same day.
