by | Sep 20, 2023

Dear parents,

As we approach the term 3 school holidays, we’re delighted to share end of term events and achievements that have been a feature of term 3.

External School Review:

One of the most significant milestones this year is our school’s participation in an external review. We believe in continuous improvement, and this review is a way to reaffirm our commitment to providing the best education and environment for our students. Thank you to parents who met with the team to share their experiences with the school. The Review Team has spoken with students across the school and visited nearly all classrooms to view learning in action. They will be preparing our next set of directions that are designed to further the quality of what we do in teaching and learning.

Harmonious Success: Primary School Festival of Music at Festival Theatre

The Primary School Festival of Music has always been a momentous occasion and this year was no exception. On Saturday night (16thSept), our students took to the stage at the iconic Festival Theatre, delivering a performance of which they can be proud.

The Festival of Music is a testament to the hard work and talent of our music teachers and students. It’s more than just a concert; it’s an opportunity for our students to showcase their creativity, discipline, and teamwork. The Festival Theatre provided the perfect backdrop for their outstanding talents to shine.

Dazzling Performance: School Performance Team Takes the Stage

The excitement doesn’t end with the Festival of Music. This Thursday, (21st Sept), we have another spectacular event in store. Our Woodend Performance Team is set to take the stage at the Entertainment Centre. It’s a night that promises to be filled with energy, creativity, and breath-taking performances.

Our dedicated performers have been rehearsing tirelessly, and their passion for the arts is truly inspiring. The Entertainment Centre stage will be the canvas for their artistic expression, and we can’t wait to witness the magic they create.

The support of parents, grandparents, caregivers, siblings, relatives and staff means the world to them, making this night even more special.

A Bright Future: Ongoing Building Program:

Our commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment continues to be a top priority. We are pleased to share that our ongoing building program is progressing smoothly, ensuring that our facilities meet the evolving needs of our students and staff. The sports surface under the COLA is being prepared and will be painted on shortly. We hope to have access to the COLA and the Gym by the start of next term. We will re-start Assemblies which we are all looking forward to.

Other special activities this term included:

  • SAPSASA Girls AFL Competition
  • The Whole School Photo Day
  • Hiragana School Challenge
  • Henny Penny Hatching Program for Receptions
  • Tours arranged for Parents of our New STE’A’M spaces.
  • Parent Information Evening for 2024 Year 5/6 MYOJO Study Tour
  • Swimming Lessons for Year 3/4 Students
  • Four staff attended the EduTech Conference in Melbourne

And many more.

Young Street Entrance Gate Opening

Additionally, we are excited to announce the opening of the entrance gate on Young Street. This improves accessibility and convenience for everyone. It’s a reflection of our desire to return to a pre-covid welcoming and inclusive environment for all. Please use this entrance as that will relieve some of the pressure on Edward Beck Drive, especially after school at pick up time.

Warm regards,

Steve Freeman
