WHAT IS PEDAL PRIX
The Australian HPV Super Series is an annual championship held in South Australia and Western Australia featuring velomobiles racing around enclosed circuits for a period between 6 and 24 hours.

It is the largest event of its kind anywhere in the world and attracts teams from all around Australia, and even overseas.

The Woodend Primary School Pedal Prix Team is a school-based parent-run activity.

Pedal Prix has many benefits for the students who become involved. These include:
– Fitness
– Endurance
– Stamina
– Teamwork
– Confidence
– Independence
– Resilience
– Social skills
– Firsthand experience in the engineering and running of the bike itself

WHEN AND WHERE

Woodend participates in 3 of these races:

Saturday, May 23rd, at The Bend Motorsport Park, Tailem Bend
Saturday, June 20th, at Victoria Park, Adelaide
Saturday, August 1st, at The Bend Motorsport Park, Tailem Bend

AGE RANGE

UNIFORM
The school will supply a Woodend Racing shirt as part of the pedal prix uniform. This will be returned and washed in a named bag at the end of the season. Cleated boots and clear eyewear will be available for all students when riding the bike.

Students must wear navy blue/black shorts or bike shorts and socks for riding. Students will also need to provide helmets and drink bottles.

PRACTICES/TRAINING
Practices in the vehicle are organised with the current team, and dates for training at Victoria Park TBA.

RACE DAY
Parents/carers are required to transport their child to the races and to support the program, for example, marshalling, timing, managing the racing schedule, and assisting students entering and exiting the vehicle. It is a family-oriented sport – an opportunity to connect with other Woodend families.

More information is available at the official Pedal Prix Website. Our Woodend Racing Facebook page is available to all current families and is used to post updates and further information
