Pedal Prix

The Australian HPV Super Series is an annual championship held in South Australia and Western Australia featuring velomobiles racing around enclosed circuits for a period between 6 and 24 hours.

The largest event of its kind anywhere in the world, it attracts teams from all around Australia, and even overseas.

The Woodend Primary School Pedal Prix Team is a school based parent run activity.

Pedal Prix has many benefits to the students who become involved. These include fitness, endurance, stamina, teamwork, confidence, independence, resilience, social skills, and firsthand experience in the engineering and running of the bike itself.

No prior skills are necessary and practices in the car are organised with the current team, while general fitness is also an important part of riding in the races. Students are timed per lap so that they can track their personal best. Students will receive a Woodend Racing top and cleats but will need to wear their own Woodend shorts, socks, shoes and bring their helmet and drink bottle.

There are 6 races available to compete in each year, each with individual results, as well as a series result calculated from the best outcome of three races. Woodend participates in 3 of these races:

Saturday May 17th at The Bend Motorsport Park, Tailem Bend
Friday June 13th at Victoria Park, Adelaide
Saturday August 2nd at The Bend Motorsport Park, Tailem Bend

Parents/carers are required to transport their child to the races and to support with the program egs. marshalling, timing, managing the racing schedule, assisting students entering and exiting the vehicle, helping with trainings. It is a family-oriented sport – an opportunity to connect with other Woodend families.
