Students can enjoy the excitement of riding a human powered vehicle (HPV) and compete in our school team against other schools in the PEDAL PRIX competition.
Pedal Prix is a very special opportunity for parents and children to work together. For students it really blends the excitement of controlling a fast manoeuvrable vehicle with the challenge of an endurance sport. Through involvement in pedal Prix students learn about perseverance, goal setting, working as a team.
Our team named “KAPOW” is made up of some Year 5s and mostly Year 6/7’s boys and girls. We currently have 9 riders. We have vacancies for an extra few Year 6 and 7 students.
If students are interested in becoming riders and wish to participate, we would be more than happy to include them in our team. We know students love having a try out in our Pedal Prix vehicle. We will have a try out opportunity at school within the next week.
We are looking forward to this year’s Human Powered Vehicle Super Series Pedal Prix Competition. Our first race at Victoria Park will be on Sunday, 19 June. Race 2 is held at Victoria Park on Sunday 31 July, then comes the big 24 hour race at Murray Bridge in September, which we all look forward to. For the Murray Bridge race we camp overnight and ride continuously for 24 hours in a tag team. This event hits the news around Australia!
It really is fantastic fun and rewarding, and anyone can do it; just ask a Pedal Prix team member.
If you would like to give it a try please see Kerri in the school office.
