Today we took five buses full of Reception to Year 2 students to Hopgood Theatre. It was a Patch Theatre Performance entitled ‘Home’. There was not one minute where the children’s senses were not engaged! Visually, orally, aurally and kinaesthetically the children were stimulated whilst the actors and audience participants engaged with household toys and interests (eg. shapes, drawings, magnets). These items, along with the actors, transformed, moved and enlarged much to the excitement and anticipation of the audience. We were fortunate to have four students, Sienna, Leah, Isla, Ari and Hunter, participate on stage much to the envy of 270 other children. Take a look at the photos below.
This year, Patch chose to combine with ‘Restless Dance Theatre Company’ which is Australia’s leading creator of dance theatre by dancers with and without disability. Zoe, Charlie and Bodhi entertained us to the point that sometimes, the theatre was absolutely silent and the next minute, so loud with audience participation, it was inaudible.
We would not have been able to undertake this excursion without the support of our parents/carers who donated their time to come with us. Thank you.
