Online Safety

by | Aug 20, 2020

Staying connected online has never been more important, now that many of us are physically isolated from family members, friends, colleagues and support networks.

The internet is a great way to socialise, learn, work, play and be entertained. But there are also risks.

Keeping young people safe online takes a whole-of-community approach: we encourage you to access the e-safety commissioner’s website www.safety.gov.au/parents. The website provides information about online safety issues for children and young people and includes a range of practical tips and advice on what to do if things go wrong. You can also find a list of important services that can offer extra support.

The site provides access to a webinar aimed at parents & carers, which explores popular apps like Tik Tok and Snapchat, and offers targeted advice for supporting young people to have safer, more enjoyable experiences online.

Please find the English – Parents guide  which has been downloaded from the website as a starting point for information about a broad range of internet safety issues. The guide is also available in a range of languages on the site.
