It has been very exciting for our school community to have nineteen riders join our Pedal Prix team this year!
This has meant that we could enter two teams “Woodend Racing” and “Woodend Racing Too” and on Saturday, we had our first race at ‘The Bend’, Tailem Bend. Most of the riders had not experienced a Pedal Prix race before and so there was a lot of nervous energy throughout the morning and we were very proud of their mindset and resilience.
There were so many parents, and even grandparents who were helping with preparing our students, helping with changeovers, providing advice and encouragement, marshalling and making adjustments to the bikes throughout the day. We thank the many parents who willingly helped with the range of responsibilities to make the event run as smoothly as possible.
By the end of the day, the teams completed 39 and 33 laps respectively. Congratulations to:
Archie, Imogen, Etienne, Neel, Eddie, Logan, Evan, Aria, Ethan, Kian, Ezra, Jordan, Judah, Jasmin, Harry, Jordon and Charlie
You showed us your school values of respect, community and care by: doing your personal best to help the team, for cheering each other on, and for supporting each other with any challenges.
We are very grateful to: Simon who towed one of the cars to and from The Bend and Regi who loaned her 4WD for towing. We especially thank coordinator, Kerry and partner, Kyle, for helping to purchase a second car, organising meetings and practices, and all the additional organisation required prior to and on race day. They also towed the second vehicle to and from Tailem Bend for us.
Our next race is on Friday 13th June 2025 at Victoria Park Racecourse.
