Teachers make many adjustments to differentiate the learning program and support student learning success. We have commenced a ten week period where teachers across Australia are monitoring and recording their adjustments, which provide a national picture of the additional complex work that teachers do to support students. Through this Annual Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (‘the Collection’), governments may make improvements to funding for schools.
The Collection involves data around: the number of students for whom teachers are making adjustments to enable them to participate in education on the same basis as other students; the level and type of adjustment provided to students; and where known, the student’s type of disability.
Under the Collection model the definition of disability is broad and includes learning difficulties, health and mental health conditions.
At Woodend we have worked with parents to develop NEPs, individual learning plans or health care plans for all students who meet this criteria. Many of these plans have been reviewed with parents this term.
If your child is identified for inclusion in the Collection, the required information about your child will be included in this year’s data collection. You should receive a letter in coming weeks with information about the Collection.
