What a fabulous 9 days we had with our visiting Myojo friends. The students were welcomed into our classrooms and made to feel very welcome.
They enjoyed Sports Day, an excursion to the Adelaide Central Market with the Year 6/7 classes, bush dancing with Ms Williams and Ms Hoskins classes, cooking in the kitchen with Amanda, classroom visits to our junior primary classes, a skipping session with Mr Z and class as well as partaking in their home class lessons.
The Myojo students also performed for us at the Farewell Assembly yesterday. We saw dancing, karate, skipping, ballet, a magic show and piano playing. They finished off with a beautiful song sang in Japanese about friendship. It was amazing.
The opportunities we give these students couldn’t be possible without the fabulous hosts families. This year we had many families offer to host, with some unfortunately missing out on the opportunity this year but hopefully next year they will be able to be a part of the experience.
This opportunity has also been a great time for our Woodend students to give some thought about being an exchange student themselves and participating in the Woodend to Myojo program in September 2018. We will be running an information night about the program later in Term 2 so if you are keen to hear more about it keep a watch out for the information. Students in Years 6 and 7 next year will be able to apply.
The exchange program is such a wonderful opportunity for our students to visit the Myojo students and build on the friendships already made.
