Our Year 2 students have enjoyed taking their learning to the zoo this term! They have been learning from the Science, Technologies, Geography, English and Arts curriculum with a particular focus on Biological Sciences to enrich their experiences at their visit to the Adelaide Zoo on 5/5/26. For example, in Design and Technologies, the students have been designing and creating a zoo enclosure for an animal that has yet to be discovered. Students have been given the exciting task of inventing their own animal, considering its name, habitat, diet, movement, and appearance.
With the support of AI, students are bringing their animals to life based on the detailed descriptions they create. They will then plan and construct the perfect zoo enclosure, carefully considering the materials and joining techniques required to bring their ideas to life. The students are developing narratives about their creatures.
In Geography, students have also been identifying how places can be represented on maps in different areas, such as the zoo, and regions of South Australia and Australia.
We thank the Year 2 teachers for organising this learning opportunity for our students. We also thank the many volunteers who could make the time to accompany and help supervise the classes on the day.
