Enquiries are now open for instrumental music lessons for students in Years 3-6 in 2025.
These lessons are offered by private providers at a weekly cost and take place during school hours. Payments and communication regarding lessons are managed directly between parents/caregivers and the lesson provider.
In some cases, and after consultation with teachers and parents, providers may offer lessons to younger students outside of class times (e.g., before school, recess, or lunch). If you are interested, please speak with your child’s teacher to determine if this option is suitable.
Lessons range in price from approximately $30 to $40 for a 30-minute session.

Guitar
Paul Henson provides lessons for Acoustic and Bass Guitar, with options for private or small group sessions.
Paul Henson started playing guitar at the age of 13. Living just around the corner from his first guitar teacher, Eric Marshall—a leading jazz guitarist in South Australia—he had the good fortune of learning from an exceptional mentor. At 18, Paul was fortunate to study under Guy Strazollio, a French jazz guitarist (known for his work with Vince Jones, Australia’s iconic crooner and trumpet player). Guy introduced him to a deep study of scales and chord relationships, expanding his musical understanding.
Paul has supported renowned artists such as Renée Geyer, Joan Armatrading, Courtney Pine, and Blood, Sweat & Tears. His performance highlights include gigs at Grand Prix Balls, the Manly Jazz Festival, the Port Jazz Festival, live-to-air performances on Triple J in Sydney and Adelaide, and opening events for the Adelaide Fringe and Canberra Comedy Festival—all while continuing to teach the instrument he loves.
Paul also studied for an Associate Diploma in Performing Arts (Jazz) for two years and was the only student across all three years to receive a Distinction in performance for his recital.
His teaching philosophy is rooted in fostering a love for music. Preparing students for performances and mentoring ensembles has been incredibly rewarding, especially seeing so many young musicians progress through high school music programs and beyond.

Vocals
Currently, we are unable to offer private vocal lessons during school hours in 2025. If there is sufficient interest, we will seek a new vocal teacher.
In the meantime, students interested in vocal training are encouraged to join the Junior Choir (Years 3 and 4) or Senior Choir (Years 5 and 6).
Brass & Wind
Students in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to learn Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Flute, Clarinet, or Saxophone at a discounted rate through the Department for Education Instrumental Music program. Occasionally, vacancies for Year 4 students arise.
For any inquiries, please contact Aimee Aparicio via Seesaw Messages.
