The theme for Disability Inclusion Week 2026 is ‘Be Your True Self’.

At Woodend Primary School, inclusion, understanding, and encouragement are part of our daily culture, and Disability Inclusion Week is a wonderful way to reinforce our values of Respect, Community, and Care at the beginning of the school year.

Resources and information shared this year will focus on listening to the PERSPECTIVES of students/families with disabilities. It is important we listen to people with disabilities and let their perspectives guide the conversation because it ensures authentic understanding, respect, and dignity. Shared input empowers self-advocacy and challenges stereotypes. This approach builds inclusive communities where everyone’s voice matters.
The agenda/information for the week is as follows –
Tuesday – Disability Inclusion Week launch day
Photo opportunity and welcome at Young Street and Edward Beck entrance gates.
Throughout the week – classroom guest speakers
If you have lived experience (a parent, carer, a person with a disability or work in a disability related field) and wish to share your perspective, please contact your child’s teacher directly to discuss how you might contribute to the week.
Updated resources/videos for a range of ages.
A range of resources, videos, books and activities will be shared in classes and via the blog, throughout the week.
Hard copies of the books used (including parent information books) can be borrowed from the learning support office.
Friday – Dress up fundraiser
We welcome a gold coin donation to support our fundraising efforts for a playground communication board.
