On Friday morning, we have been advised there was a concerning near miss on Young St involving a family and a car. Thankfully, no one was harmed, but it is a timely reminder for us all about the importance of using designated crossings and modelling safe behaviours for our children.

Safety at Crossings

Our school is committed to student and community safety. We have clearly marked pedestrian crossings and crossing monitors present before and after school to support everyone’s safety.

Please remember:

  • Always cross at designated school crossings, even if you are in a hurry.
  • Look both ways before stepping onto the road and wait for crossing monitors or traffic signals.
  • Hold young children’s hands while crossing.
  • Avoid distractions such as mobile phones or headphones near roads.
  • Teach older children to wait, watch, and listen before they cross.

Setting a Positive Example

Children learn best by observing adults. By consistently using designated crossings and following road safety rules, you help instil essential habits in your children that will keep them safe now and in the future.

Thank you for your support in keeping our community safe. Let’s continue working together to ensure that school drop-off and pick-up is a safe experience for every family.
