Last week we were privileged to have David Pisoni, the Minister for Innovation and Skills, come to Woodend. He presented Ebony Springall, our School Service Office (SSO), with an Award for being the winner of the South Australian Vocational Student of the Year Award for the 2020 Awards. Normally there would have been ceremonies both here in South Australia and also in Melbourne, but Covid-19 interrupted ceremonies. As a result, Minister Pisoni came to make the presentation in person at our school. Many staff were in the staffroom to also acknowledge Ebony’s achievement.
A panel assessed Ebony via an application, referees and interview. They were not only looking for a State Award winner, but someone who could be a national winner and represent Australia internationally. The question she had to address with the panel was: ‘How do you feel about being a Vocational Education Ambassador and role model in your community?’ and ‘Tell us how you would promote Vocational Education and Training to the wider community?’
Our school community congratulates Ebony for her ‘Vocational Student Of The Year’ Award.
