At Woodend we work to build strong adult partnerships, not only because we want you to feel valued and welcomed but also so you are able to contribute and to learn within our Woodend community. Ultimately this is also about developing the school community’s capacity to more effectively support successful learning. Volunteers are an integral part of our school community and  we value the support of parents, carers and community members helping in a variety of ways at our school.

To volunteer at Woodend, you are required to fulfil two requirements:

  1. Complete and submit a Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) ‘Child-related employment screening’; available form the school office. We are finding there is quite a delay in the processing of these forms. Some are taking quite a few months. Consequently we encourage you to action this process with URGENCY if you wish to be volunteering in your child’s classroom as soon as possible in 2016! The $15 cost is heavily subsidised and the screening lasts for 3 years.
  2. Attend a Woodend Volunteer Induction workshop. Term 4  induction sessions  times are posted below. Please book  at our school office prior to the day, if you are planning to attend.  These sessions will only go ahead if there are prior to the day bookings.

Volunteers who have completed an in school induction session and have also completed the DCSI Relevant History Screening will be cleared to volunteer at the school for 3 years.

Term 4 Session dates and times:

  • Tuesday 24 November 9:00am – 10:30am
  • Tuesday 24 November 6:00pm – 7:30pm

There will be more sessions at the beginning of  Term 1, 2016 so that anyone who is eligible to volunteer  ( has DCSI RHS clearance) may book into an induction and commence volunteering as soon possible.
