Colour Run 2019

by | Oct 21, 2019

This year, we will be holding a School Colour-Run as our major fundraising event on Friday 22 November. Organised by our SRC and parent network, this event is designed to raise much needed money towards new Play Ground & Play Equipment for the school oval.

About the Program: The School Colour-Run promotes healthy and active lifestyles while helping us raise funds! It’s all about participation, with students treated to a great day as a reward for their fundraising efforts.  Family support is key to our fundraising success and we encourage everyone to get involved. All students are able to participate in this event.

Parent Involvement: Not only can you support the school and students with your sponsorship – but you can join in on the fun! We would love to welcome parents and family members to attend the Colour-Run and watch your children.

Parents are also welcome do the Colour Run this year! For a $10 donation to this fundraising initiative (via QKR or cash on the day) parents can run the course at lunch time, with children watching from the sidelines. Simply be ready in your white Tshirt to do the Parent Run at 1pm!

IMPORTANT DATES:

Fundraising Closes: Friday 15 November

Order Prizes by: Wednesday 20 November

Colour Run: Friday 22 November

FUNDRAISING:

All fundraising money must be submitted online, turned in to the office, or paid via QKR by 11am Friday 15 November.

Sponsorship Forms (sent home with children), have instructions on how to raise money and order prizes.

Students who raise just $10 will receive a reward for their effort. The more they raise, the better their reward – don’t forget to check these out in the sponsorship form!

We are asking ALL STUDENTS TO REGISTER ONLINE for Colour Run Fundraising – even if you are submitting cash to the front office or QKR, please still register online at schoolfundraising.com.au Registering online is how you will receive your prize!

Note: Parents who signed on to schoolfundraising.com.au last year – your login & profile will work again this year. You simply re-enter your children’s details.

Online Fundraising:

The easiest way to help your child raise money is through online fundraising, where students raise an average of $120. On top of raising more money, it’s also safer and easier than door knocking and you don’t have to worry about handling money! To start fundraising online, go to your student profile page at schoolfundraising.com.au and share your online fundraising link with everyone!

Note: When you register online you do not have to share your link or fundraise online if you do not wish to do so. Your details (Student Name & Class) are for admin use only.

Cash & QKR Funds:

If you would prefer to collect cash donations, this can be done by recording on your sponsorship form. Money collected can then be taken into the office or submitted through the QKR app. Your total cash donation will need to be recorded online or on the sponsorship form and returned to the office to count toward your prizes.

To record your cash donation online, simply…

  • log in to your online profile at schoolfundraising.com.au
  • click ‘edit cash amount’ to enter the cash amount you have received/are donating
  • submit the cash to the office along with the back page of your Sponsorship Form or submit cash via QKR
  • the cash donation you make to the office must match the cash amount you have entered in your online profile
  • cash amount is added to online fundraising amount (if any) as a total for prize selection

PRIZE ORDERS:

After all money has been collected you will receive an email instructing you to order your prize.

Prizes must be ordered by Wednesday November 20th (in order for prizes to be delivered by the end of the school year.)

Most students choose just one prize, however you can select as many prizes as you’d like! You just have to choose the higher prize first… but don’t worry it’s all worked out for you when you order your prizes online.

To avoid missing out on a reward, please log in to your profile online and order your prize.

What to bring:  We would like students to come to school on the day ready to run. The powder used is washable and shouldn’t stain, but we still recommend old clothes and shoes to run in. A white T shirt will help to best show the colour. Bring an old towel to clean up with after the run and to protect your car for the drive home. Adult volunteers will be spraying the colour powder and will be aiming below the neck. However, if you would like your child to wear goggles or sunglasses they are more than welcome.

Note:

If children come to school in their uniform they will not be able to participate in the run.

Any parents who wish to take their children home early must sign out at the front office.

If you are coming to watch your children do the Colour Run, please watch from the designated viewing area in the centre of the oval, and please be careful crossing into the centre of the oval as children will be running and doing obstacles around the outside of the oval.

COLOUR RUN FAQs

Can all children participate?
This event is the major fundraiser for our school so we are asking all children to participate in fundraising. However, even if children are unable to raise funds for the event they are still welcome to participate.

What if we don’t want to register online to fundraise?
It is very easy to register your children to fundraise online at schoolfundraising.com.au – this will allow them to easily share a link with friends and families to donate, as well as very easily choose their prizes after the COLOUR RUN. However, if you prefer, you can simply collect cash and drop it off at the front office or make a payment via QKR, and your child can choose their prizes in the prize pamphlet and return it to the front office.

What will money raised be used for?
The funds will go towards replacing the middle playground (where the new STEM building will go in 2020) with new play equipment and play spaces on the oval for our school and community to enjoy.

Is the colour safe?
The colour powder is 98% cornstarch and 2% food grade dye. It will be squirted on children’s T-shirts, from the neck down, by adults, using tomato sauce type squirt bottles. If you have any concerns at all about safety, children are welcome to wear swimming goggles or sunglasses as eye protection and/or bandanas or scarves around their noses & mouths. If you have specific concerns about your child and their health needs, please talk to your child’s teacher.

What if my child needs to opt out?
If children wish to not be squirted with colour, due to concerns of asthma or allergies or any other reason, they can bypass the colour stations and will not be squirted. Children who do not wish to be squirted may also choose to wear a bright coloured Tshirt (instead of a white one) as a way to still be colourful on the day and to signal that they do not wish to be in contact with the powder. Some students may find they prefer to turn their back when the colour is squirted to avoid the spray going near their face.

Will the colour stain?
As the colour contains food dye it can stain light hair/skin. Washing skin as soon as possible can help prevent staining. We are asking that children bring an old towel to sit on in class after they have finished the run – and this will help protect your car from the colour at the end of the day!

What about hats?
Students are expected to have their school hat to wear out on the oval while waiting their turn for the course, but can take their hat off while doing the Colour Run.

How far do children have to run?
The Colour Run will actually be a short run around the oval including a series of obstacles which will include: climbing, crawling, jumping, throwing, sliding, balancing, dodging, and more! The colour stations will be spread throughout the course so that children get multiple squirts of colour.

Will there be water?
Children will be sprayed with water at the beginning of the run (this helps the colour stick to Tshirts and keeps everyone cool if it is a hot day. Plus it is FUN!)  There is a waterslide at the end of the course (we recommend to go down the slide on your bottom, so that you don’t muddy your colourful Tshirt.) As white Tshirts become translucent when wet, some students may wish to wear an undershirt as well.

What is the plan for bad weather?
The colour Run will go ahead regardless of weather, unless we determine that it is unsafe to do so.

Fundraising/Prize FAQs

I’ve already submitted my cash to the front office/paid via QKR, can I still register online to order my prize?
Yes! Please do! Register online at schoolfundraising.com.au and enter in the cash amount you submitted to the office.

What if I am unable/unwilling to register online to order a prize?
You will need to order a prize using the Colour Run pamphlet sent home with students. There are a few spares at the office. You will need to clearly identify your prize choice in the pamphlet as well as the cash amount you have submitted to the office, plus include your Name & Class on the back, then turn the pamphlet into the office on or before Weds 22 Nov.

What if I forgot to turn in my money and/or order my prize by the due date?
Please still turn in your funds raised to the front office, unfortunately it will be too late to order your prize. If you haven’t haven’t ordered a prize by 20 Nov the school will order a prize on your behalf… extra/unlcaimed prizes are then used for future fundraising activities.

When will prizes be delivered?
As long as prizes are ordered by Wed 20 November they should be delivered to our school to hand out before the end of the term. We will do our very best to ensure this happens – you can help by ensuring all money is in by Nov 15 & all prizes are ordered by Nov 20.
