What a fabulous day we had celebrating the 30th Birthday of Woodend Primary School! A huge thank you to students, staff, families, and past community members who joined us to mark this special milestone.
The day commenced with an Assembly in the school gym, where we reflected on the history of Woodend Primary School. We thank Ms Boys, Mrs Dimech and students in Rooms 4 and 10 for the thorough preparation and presentation of assembly. Our brass and woodwind ensemble welcomed the audience with their rendition of Happy Birthday. It was inspiring to hear the reflections of past and present students and staff members, highlighting the community spirit that has defined our school over the past three decades. Room 25 led the school in singing Happy Birthday, first in Japanese and then in English. The cutting of the celebratory Birthday cake by past and present Principals Mr Marshall and Mr Freeman with one of the foundation teachers Mrs Lever, was a highlight.
Following the Assembly, families and visitors had the opportunity to explore a display of Woodend’s history located in the front office area and enjoy birthday cake and a tea or coffee in the staff room.
The Dress-Up Day added an extra layer of fun, as students and staff embraced the fashion of the 1990s with creative flair. The birthday atmosphere extended to the classrooms, where Board Games Day allowed students and teachers to bond over their favourite games.
The event culminated with a Picnic Birthday Lunch under the COLA. Families, students, and staff gathered together, enjoying their lunches with a sense of community and celebration. The hand painted candles, decorated by classes provided a colourful and fun backdrop to the picnic lunch.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the committee for organising this event and everyone who contributed to making the day such a memorable occasion. A special thank you to past staff members who connected with us and joined in the festivities. Your presence on this day added a memorable link to the school’s rich past and vibrant present.
