Get ready to tune into reading!
From Monday 24 August to Friday 28 August, our school will celebrate the annual CBCA Book Week. This year’s magical theme is “Symphony of Stories.” Throughout the week, we will explore how unique stories, voices, and colourful characters come together to create a beautiful orchestra of storytelling.
Our annual Book Week Parade will be held on Friday 28 August 2026. Families are warmly invited to join the fun at 9:00 am on the school oval. Children and adults alike are invited to dress up for the occasion. For those unable to attend, the parade will be recorded and shared. At the conclusion of the parade there will be a short assembly on the oval.
To ensure everyone’s safety and minimise congestion, we ask that after the parade, families exit the oval via the oval gate on Edward Beck Drive. This will allow students to return to class via the path without overcrowding.
In the event of inclement weather, students will have the opportunity to parade for each other during the day. Any changes will be communicated via Seesaw prior to the event.
As our theme is a “Symphony of Stories,” children are encouraged to dress up as:
- Any favourite book character from a story they love
- A musical or “noisy” character (such as the loud Trunchbull, a rockstar character, or a storybook animal)
- A simple colour to represent a “note” in our school’s orchestra of stories
Remember, you don’t need a costume to join in! You can support your child’s love of reading throughout the week by reading stories together each day and asking questions, such as:
- “If your favourite book had a sound, would it be loud and chaotic, or quiet and peaceful?”
- “Which character in your current book has the most interesting voice?”
