On Wednesday of last week, years 4, 5 and 6 classes took part in a fantastic Science workshop that focussed on forensic evidence and code cracking.
Students were invited to help crack the code and solve a “real life” forensic crime scene. They used microscopes, DNA pads and UV lights to help unravel the mystery.
Students collected evidence and used a range of recording techniques to keep track of their observations and lines of inquiry.
A projection of the “crime scene” was shown at the beginning of the session, as an introduction to the problem.
It was an excellent opportunity for students to work collaboratively, ask questions, use problem solving skills and make predictions and to hypothesize. All students were fully engaged and enjoyed the challenge and consequence satisfaction of helping to discover what happened within the case.
