Today, our school held a Remembrance Day Ceremony, thoughtfully led by our students. It was a heartfelt event, acknowledging the sacrifices made by so many that have allowed us to enjoy the privileges we have in Australia today. Our 600+ students were very quiet and respectful throughout the ceremony.

The ceremony reminded us of how fortunate we are and emphasised the significance of the red poppies we wear on this day to honour those who served. Highlights included:

  • A beautiful rendition of Flanders Fields sung by our Senior Choir

  • A spirited performance of I am Australian by the Junior Choir

  • Observing a minute of silence following the playing of The Last Post

  • Raising the flags from half-mast as The Rouse was played

It was a memorable and respectful assembly held under the COLA, and we are proud of our students for their participation in this important commemoration. Thankyou to Maya, Judah, Neel, Harry, Molly, Riley, Makenna, Kimani and Ariella for leading the Remembrance Day Ceremony. Thankyou to the Senior Choir and the Junior Choir led by Reggie. We had a beautiful rendition of the New Zealand National Anthem sung by Coralie followed by two verses of the Australian National Anthem.

I also wish to acknowledge the attendance of parents and community who responded to our invitation and enjoyed the opportunity to pay their respects.

Warm regards,
Steve Freeman
Principal
