Woodend hosted round 2 of the Boys AFL competition today against Highgate and St Francis De Sales.

Game 1 vs Highgate

The boys played with a lack of effort at times in the first half and this impacted on the scoreboard. They were able to fight back in the second half and make the game a better contest. Highgate were able to score consistent goals throughout the game and come away with the win.

Highgate – 9 goals, 9 points = 63

Woodend – 6 goals, 6 points = 35

Game 2 vs St Francis De Sales

Woodend were able to start the game with a better attack on the ball and energy in each contest and that showed on the scoreboard with 5 goals in the first quarter. The team played with a positive attitude and enthusiasm and came away with a strong win.

Woodend – 18 goals, 8 points = 118

St Francis – 4 goals, 4 points = 28

The woodend team have now been eliminated from the AFL competition, congratulations to the year 6 boys who have now finished their AFL Football here at Woodend. Thank you to Jason and Colin as our goal umpires today and to the parents for helping to support and encourage the team.
