This year  we will  continue the giant transformation of our  school oval and surrounds, through our Biodiversity  and Nature Play  Project.

You may have noticed we have lots of new  big mounds  that students are  really enjoying scrambling over.   Soon the mounds will be reshaped a litle and few smaller ones will be created in other locations. The grass is growing beautifully over  the ones we started last  year.

This term our focus is on  getting a number of  really big trunks and branches  which will be  significant in the construction of  the fitness circuit and  also some of  the nature play spaces.  We would love to hear from you if you have any ideas on where to source them … The  photo above gives you an idea of the scale  we are after for our really big items … Of course we will need help getting them here  and putting them into position.  We also need  plenty of  branches that may be used for posts for a range  of cubby and  fitness structures which we hope to install this term.   If you are interested to lend a hand with this please let us know.

We are also looking at creating an outdoor musical  area, probably around the sports shed pictured. We need items  that  can be creatively  put together to make safe and  durable  outdoor  instruments… Let us know if you have anything that might work … we would love to hear your ideas … for some suggestions see the photos below.

We are also starting work on costing  and designing the  elevated “fort” that  will go in the north western area of the oval. Let us know if you would like to be  involved in this.

We will be planting a very large number of  trees and others plants at the beginning of next term.

The remainder of the year is will be taken up  with several other projects to  create off  ground  type experiences that  students wanted.

We will include students as much as possible in helping to shape  and  design before we construct.  The grounds committee is very excited about  completing this work this year  and would love  any others who would like to contribute ideas and energy for this great project, to join us.  If you are interested please contact any of the grounds committee members, Brian or Kerri in the office.
