Remembrance Day Assembly – A Day to Remember

by | Nov 9, 2018

Our Remembrance Day assembly this morning was a lovely commemoration of those who have lost their lives in the service of their country during the war.Thank you to parents who came to the assembly this morning.

Seth, Abby, Aidan, Hannah, Shanel and Ruby did a fabulous job in leading us through a respectful and informative service in which they explained clearly and succinctly the significant aspects of Remembrance Day, including:

  • What is Remembrance Day?
  • War memorials
  • Poppies
  • In Flanders Fields
  • Laying of wreaths
  • The recitation (including The Ode)
  • Sounding of The Last Post and one minutes silence
  • The Rouse
  • Raising the flags
  • The National Anthem

Harry and Jack respectfully laid the wreath under the flagpole. The wreath will be taken to Glenelg and Jack will lay the wreath at the War Memorial there on Sunday.
