The Annual School Community Christmas Event is a giant family picnic on the school oval. We have music and performances that are all just for fun. This is not a concert night; it is a lovely relaxed chance to enjoy the company of school community members. We just happen to have about three hours of classes and other groups getting up on stage and having fun. Everyone loves to see staff and parents get up and do something … We always have a great fireworks display to finish the night off with a bang. SRC usually raise the bulk of the funds for the fireworks by holding a $2+ casual day at the end of November. That casual day date will be set soon.
The performances start at 6:00 pm and go through ’til about 9:00 pm when the fireworks begin. The Canteen runs a big sausage sizzle, tea and coffee and soft drinks. Families picnic on their blankets or bring their own chairs. It’s a child centred event and parents are responsible for the supervision of their own children, except at preformance time when students are with their teachers.
Call for Performers: We are starting to put our program together for this event and would love to hear from those who would like to perform. There is never any requirement that any class participates in this event, however, many students do perform in class and other groups. We also love to have parents perform. So please consider getting a group together. We do always get about 3 hours of performances. We already have a staff item, Governing Council / Parent Network, choirs, our student rock bands, and some classes …
